In the early 1970's, Pete, along with Drummer Terry Earl, formed his first band, the "Flying Saucers",who went on to record several albums for labels such as Sony CBS and EMI, and appeared in the film "Blue Suede shoes".
In the eighties, Pete co-founded "Alligator Records", Which, gave young up and coming bands such as The Polecats, The Meteors and Johnny Key their first chance to record.
